Here are some tips you can do that will not cost you the equity in your home yet will improve it appearance:
- Clean all glass in fixtures and replace with proper bulbs. Use reflectors in recessed and studio lights. Turn all light on when showing. Bathrooms and kitchen should have maximum wattage bulbs. Use soft white bulbs where white light is appealing.
- Clean the windows and sills.
- Open all the drapes for showing. Set blinds parallel to the floor.
- Clear and put away clutter. Clear magnets and papers from the refrigerator, etc.
- Refurbish your live plants. Use a small potted plant for some green affect.
- Clean and put all personal item out of view. Clean all counters.
- Clean switch plates and door knobs along with the areas around them.
- Clean all kitchen and bathroom fixtures with a brush and cleanser to make them shine.
- Give stove and kitchen appliances a thorough cleaning (usually a hot spot for a buyer).
There are times, however, when painting and carpeting, etc. may be required in order to obtain top dollar.
